washington post obituary listing rudiments

When I lost my mother there was no way on earth that I could have written a shopping list never mind poems for funeral tributes. Losing a family member or close friend can be devastating and can have a lasting effect on all who knew the person who has passed.

In trying times it can be a struggle to keep your composure, however making notes will help you focus. But in any case funeral poems serve like an ode to the person who died. It will take a little time to make it perfect, so do not get frustrated if you are unable to write eulogy in one sitting.

Acknowledge the important people and achievements in his life. You should refer to the deceased person by name, using no other terms. A feature of successful eulogies is that they will include comment on the positive impact the person had on other people along the way, especially on the speaker and others present at the funeral.

Death is hard to accept but can be made easier by the love extended by people who truly care. It should be written and delivered from the heart.
